A hearty welcome to EuReD!

The goal of the project »European Religious Peace Agreements – a Digital Edition« is the preparation of a digital edition of the political-legal ordinances that established religious co-existence, that is co-existence among the confessional groups of the early modern period.  These ordinances constitute essential building blocks for the construction of the modern European political system and provide significant insights into the ways in which societies dealt with religious plurality and developed the concept of tolerance.

The project is funded by the Academy Program of the Union of German Academies of Sciences and Humanities as a long-term project and is being conducted by the Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz, the University and State Library Darmstadt and the Leibniz-Institute for European History in Mainz as cooperation partners. The work is being carried out in Mainz and Darmstadt.
